New name and webseite: Glasmacher

40 years ago, our mother Barbara Glasmacher had the idea of looking for a new school for us in England. Not because it was fashionable, but because she believed it might be the right thing to do. All four of us daughters liked it so much that she began to tell people about it.
What began as a private educational experiment became a company in 1996. Over three decades, a network of just a few schools grew into something that cannot simply be built: tacit knowledge. When facts are digitally accessible everywhere, a look behind the scenes becomes increasingly important: what impact a new headmistress is currently having on a particular school, what the atmosphere is like in the boarding house, what goes on at the weekends. Our experience is based on hundreds of school visits, on feedback from pupils over the years, and on personal relationships with school management that have developed over time. This plays a part in every school recommendation and forms the basis for our assessment of which school truly suits which child.
Our network now includes over 200 British boarding schools, many of which waive entrance exams for our pupils because they trust our judgement.
We, Theresa and Virginia, are continuing the story today — ourselves former boarding school pupils, and now as mothers who have sent our own children to schools in England.
Staying relevant in times of change — in the 30th year of our company’s history, it is precisely this impetus that is leading us to make visible to the outside world what our families and schools have long been using: from now on, we’re calling ourselves ‘Glasmacher’. Our legal name remains unchanged, but our brand identity has been refreshed as of today — a new website and a new look. We’re also sharing our expertise on Instagram and LinkedIn, providing updates on upcoming events and offering insights into what young people can experience at our partner schools. We invite you to follow us on social media, and we look forward to continuing our dialogue with you.
